After the Open... Time to break out the Champagne, for all major indices are squarely in the green this morning, including the S&P 500 which has risen, for the first time, past 2000, and is now drifting back and forth a bit, most recently at 1998, (though the market is partying like it's 1999.) New home sales fell in July for the second straight month, despite rising housing starts and declining prices. Analysts caution that this number tends to jump around quite a bit.

Here are your Monday morning market metrics. Industries doing well today include Biotechnology, Capital Markets and Internet/Catalogue Retail. Industries showing weakness include Real Estate Management, Leisure Products and REITs.
