The lightning or lightning bug? - introducing NASDAQ.com financial glossary

Words are important. As Mark Twain famously said, "The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning." That is true with common language and doubly so when using terms specific to an industry such as finance. Have you ever seen a financial term in print or online and wondered exactly what it meant? For example, what is beta? How can beta affect your financial decisions? What the heck is a time value premium, and how does it affect investment strategy?
