(RTTNews.com) - Telefónica Deutschland Holding AG (TDE.L, TEF) Thursday posted a loss of 40 million euros in the first quarter, wider than 13 million euros loss in the year-ago quarter.

Operating loss in the quarter widened to 33 million euros from last year's 2 million euros loss. Operating Income before Depreciation and Amortisation or OIBDA decreased more than 15 percent to 234 million euros.

Total revenues in the first quarter declined 8.8 percent to 1.122 billion euros, driven by a continuation of trends in mobile and fixed service revenues and declining handset revenues.

Wireless service revenues slid 3.4 percent to 707 million euros, excluding the impact from mobile termination rate cuts.

At the end of March 2014, the group had 25.0 million customer accesses, down 1.3 percent year-on-year. The mobile access base remained stable at 19.3 million, while fixed line accesses declined 4.6 percent to 5.7 million.
