Technology stocks extended their earlier advance, helping lead a small recovery for the broader U.S. markets late Wednesday and with shares of tech companies in the S&P 500 rising almost 0.7% near today's close.

In company news, Atomera ( ATOM ) turned in a 7.5% advance on Wednesday, reaching a session high of $4.15 a share, after a new regulatory filing last night showed the executive vice president of strategic business development at the semiconductor manufacturing technologies company recently sold 2,178 shares to cover his tax-withholding costs following the vesting of nearly 12,100 shares awarded earlier this year.

Erwin Trautmann in March received stock options to buy 24,169 shares, half of which vested on Dec. 1. His stock sale the same day produced $8,276 in gross proceeds and trimmed his overall stake in the company to 84,245 shares. The stock options have an exercise price of $7.01 a share.

In other sector news,

(+) FSLR, Expects FY18 EPS of $1.25 to $1.75 compared with analyst call looking for a $1.25 per share profit. Also sees revenue in a range of $2.3 bln to $2.5 bln, straddling the Capital IQ consensus expecting $2.38 bln in yearly revenue.

(-) ATTU, Prices $20 mln public offering of 2.963 mln ordinary shares at $6.75 each. Net proceeds will support the company's strategic plan, including expanding sales, marketing, research and development, and potential acquisitions.
