Tech Stocks Advancing; Bally Technologies, High 5 Expand Collaboration Pact

Technology stocks are moderately higher, with shares of technology companies in the S&P 500 gaining about 0.4%.

In company news, Bally Technologies Inc. ( BYI ) are holding a small gain in afternoon trading after announcing an expanded agreement with rival gaming developer High 5 Games.

The agreement will call for High 5 Games to produce more games than ever for Bally, in addition to the games already promised from their 2012 contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shares earlier climbed to its best levels since September, peaking at $76.33 each before settling into the current range around $75.80 a share, up 0.6%.

In other sector news,

(+) UQM, (+8.6%) U.S. Department of Energy extends $64.7-mln grant to manufacture and deployment of electric drive vehicles, batteries and electric drive vehicle components through Jan. 12, 2015, according to the company's 8-K filing.

(-) SPEX, (+0.1%) Giving back near all of its early 9.6% gain that followed the intellectual-property firm suing AT&T ( T ), claiming the telecom company was violating one of its patents.
