Top Tech Stocks
Technology stocks were slightly higher, with shares of
technology companies in the S&P 500 rising nearly 0.2%.
In company news, Oracle Corp (
) shares were narrowly higher this afternoon after the business
software firm won a federal court decision late last week in a
copyright fight with Rimini Street Inc.
ORCL on Monday disclosed the Feb. 17 decision in a news release,
saying a U.S. District Court judge in Las Vegas ruled that Rimini
Street infringed ORCL copyrights by installing PeopleSoft software
on its computer systems to test software updates for customers.
The court also rejected defense claims the copying was permitted
under licenses held by Rimini Street's customers, entering a
partial judgment in ORCL's favor. Issues relating to other software
and customers along with a second motion also seeking a summary
judgment on other issues were reserved for trial.
ORCL shares have swung between small gains and losses on
Tuesday, rising 0.1% to $38.03 apiece in recent trade. The stock
has a 52-week range of $29.86 t $38.77 a share.
In other sector news,

with a $10 price target at FBR Capital, citing smart-phone
company's liquid assets. Warns meaningful turnaround is still
several quarters away. Also, Third Point LCC buys 10 mln shares
during Q4, now owns 1.9% stake.
(-) SYMC, (-2.8%) Reportedly ships its Symantec Endpoint
Protection without removing several critical security
vulnerabilities, according to SEC Consult Security. The software
was developed to protect against viruses, worms, Trojan horses,
spyware and adware along with other types of malware.
