TD Ameritrade Q4 Profit Rises, but Revenue Misses (AMTD)

Online stock brokerage operator TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. ( AMTD ) on Tuesday posted higher fourth quarter earnings despite a downturn in revenue.

The Omaha, NE-based company reported fourth quarter net income of $152 million, or 27 cents per share, compared with $145 million, or 25 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

Revenue edged slightly lower from last year to $653.4 million.

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a smaller profit of 26 cents per share, albeit on higher revenue of $671.5 million.

TD Ameritrade shares were unchanged in premarket trading Tuesday.

Shares of TD Ameritrade ( AMTD ) have a 1.23% dividend yield, based on Friday's closing stock price of $16.30. The stock has technical support in the $14-$15 price area. If the shares can firm up, we see overhead resistance around the $17-$18 price levels.
