OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Interest rates will rise and bond prices will ease, but no one knows for
certain when or how much, leaving fixed income investors with lots of
questions - particularly as it relates to their retirement planning.
It's market situations like this that prompted TD Ameritrade, Inc. ("TD
Ameritrade"), a broker-dealer subsidiary of TD Ameritrade Holding
Corporation (NYSE:AMTD), to host a
free education day on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.
The one-day event will feature webcasts on a variety of timely
retirement-focused topics - from fixed income investments to ETFs and
options strategies - structured to help investors develop a strategic
plan that can help them become more confident investors. The event is
open to the public and will begin at 11:30 a.m. EDT and conclude at 9:30
p.m. ET, with each webinar lasting about an hour. Investors can opt to
attend all of the sessions or pick and choose based on their needs.
"There's a lot of uncertainty in the economy, and that creates caution
among investors: fear of rising rates and its impact on bond prices;
concerns about how to manage volatility in a portfolio; and questions
about strategies to help generate income," said Tom Bradley, president
of retail distribution for TD Ameritrade. "As a leading provider of
investor education, it's our job to get out in front of investors and to
help answer these questions. So we brought together experts from across
the industry to hold a special, free education day to help investors get
clarity on these issues and ultimately make more informed investment
decisions."
Two of the webcasts will be broadcast live from the TD Ameritrade branch
office in Chicago, Ill., located at Burnham Center, 111 West Washington
St., Suite LL-5. On-site, Christine Benz, director of personal finance
for Morningstar, will present "Key Ingredients for Successful Retirement
Portfolios," and Scott Nations, president and chief investment officer
for NationsShares, will present "Using Options to Create Monthly Income."
