Talisman Energy Exits GTL Project with Sasol Canada; Shares Up Near 2%

By MT Newswires June 28, 2012, 09:37:12 AM EDT

Talisman Energy ( TLM ) said today that it will not pursue the gas-to-liquids (GTL) project with Sasol Canada after participating in the first phase, which was a feasibility study for a GTL facility.

The company said its immediate focus will be in accelerating investment in near-term liquids opportunities.

TLM was given the option to participate in the project as part of its partnership with Sasol, which includes two 50% working interests in two natural gas assets and associated infrastructure in TLM's Montney shale resources in northeast British Columbia. The company's decision to exit the GTL project will not impact the upstream partnership.

Shares are up 2% to $10.83, with a 52-week range of $9.46 - $21.07.
