Suncor Energy should pump out gains as Q4 profit nearly triples, easily beats target

Suncor Energy Inc (SU.TO), Canada's biggest energy company, should pump out gains and may post a new year high after saying it earned $1.35 billion or 87 cents a share in the fourth quarter, up from $457 million or 29 cents a share in the previous corrsponding period. It has an existing year high of $42.

Analysts on average had forecast Suncor to earn 51 cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Cash flow, a glimpse into a company's ability to fund development, almost doubled to $2.14 billion or $1.37 a share from $1.13 billion or $0.72 a share.
