Stocks Little Changed in Mid-Session; Telecom, Industrial Shares Mostly Higher, Tech Slumping

By MT Newswires September 10, 2012, 12:05:13 PM EDT

U.S. stocks are little changed today, holding in a tight range either side of even. Telecom stocks are helping pace today's gains, along with industrials, while technology stocks are the biggest drag on the major averages. The markets were under pressure early following weak economic data out of China yesterday, indicating lower-than-expected industrial production and fixed-asset investment and a wider-than-expected August trade surplus due to shrinking exports. Wholesale prices also rose. Later today, the Federal Reserve is expected to announce consumer credit for July, with a consensus call of a $9.8 billion month-over-month rise from soft June figures.
