Stocks ended mixed Wednesday, finding little direction ahead of a now-cancelled appearance by Fed Chair Janet Yellen before the Senate Finance Committee. Yellen's testimony was postponed by a severe ice and snow storm hitting a wide swath of the United States, moving into Washington this afternoon and expected to reach New York by tomorrow morning. Most sectors in the S&P 500 closed in the red today, with the steepest declines for consumer staples and energy companies. Tech stocks managed to squeeze out small gains.
