Sector Update: Technology Stocks Lower - AOL up 4% on Earnings

Technology shares are down this morning along with the broader stock market, which is weighed lower over concerns about economic growth in Europe.

In technology stocks news, AOL ( AOL ) is up 4% as it reports Q3 revenue of $561.3 mln, up from $531.7 mln in the year ago quarter and ahead of the analyst consensus of $548.8 mln on Capital IQ. Earnings were $0.02 per share, down from $0.22 per share last year. The Street view was $0.51 per share, but this may not be comparable. Excluding items, EPS looks to have been about $0.55 per share, which would have been ahead of Street expectations.

And, NTELOS Holdings ( NTLS ) reported Q3 earnings of $0.48 per share, ex one-time items, compared with the prior-year period's $0.22 per share. Revenues were $130.9 million, up from $114.47 million in the same quarter last year.

Analysts polled by Capital IQ were expecting EPS of $0.24 on revenues of $124.59 million.
