Sector Update: Semiconductor Shares Having Good Day Despite Lower Overall Market

Semiconductor shares on average are up 0.21% ( SOX ) compared to wider markets. For example, the S&P 500 ( SPX ) is down 0.39% at 1,685.28. The semiconductor group continues its strong year-to-date performance, with returns up 22.7%, versus the S&P 500 year-to-date gain of 14.48%.

A few semiconductor stocks in particular leading the sector higher are highlighted below.

Fairchild Semiconductor ( FCS ) up 1.8% at $13.92 per share.

Microsemi Corp ( MSCC ) up 1.7% at $24.33 per share.

Silicon Laboratories ( SLAB ) up 1.33% at $42.80 per share.

Broadcom (BRCM) is up 1.2% at $26.14 per share

Exar Corp (EXAR) is up 1.4% at $13.49 per share, shy of 52 week highs.

Maxim Integrated (MXIM) is up 1.3% at $29.86 per share
