Sector Update: Healthcare Shares Lower Pre-Market; Bristol-Myers Q4 Earnings Beat Estimates

Healthcare shares are generally trading lower in pre-market trade.

Bristol-Myers ( BMY ) reports Q4 EPS of $0.51, better than the analyst consensus of $0.43 per share on Capital IQ. Revenue was $4.4 billion, versus expectations of $4.31 billion.

For 2014, the company confirmed its EPS guidance range of $1.65-$1.80. The Street view is $1.78 per share.

And, Medical products manufacturer Covidien plc ( COV ) said its adjusted diluted EPS for Q1 2014 was $1, topping the Capital IQ consensus by $0.06. Net sales rose 3% year over year to $2.64 billion, in line with analysts' estimate.

For fiscal 2014, net sales are expected to grow 2% to 5% from the previous year.
