Sector Update: Healthcare Shares Flat Pre-Market; Cytori Down 1% on Plans to Sell 4 Mln Units

Healthcare shares were generally flat in pre-market trade on Friday.

In healthcare stocks news, Protalix BioTherapeutics, Inc. ( PLX ) said Health Canada has granted regulatory approval to ELELYSO for the long-term enzyme replacement therapy for patients with Type 1 Gaucher disease.

ELELYSO will be marketed in Canada by Pfizer Inc. ( PFE ).

And, Cytori Therapeutics ( CYTX ) shares declined about 1% in Friday's pre-market session, after the developer of cell therapies to treat cardiovascular disease and other medical conditions said it entered into agreements with certain institutional investors to raise about $10 million through the issuance and sale of about 4 million units of common stock and warrants.

Finally, GE's ( GE ) healhcare unit said it has received approval from the U.S Food and Drug Administration to supply generators for the production of sodium pertechnetate; technetium injection to its radiopharmacies in the U.S.
