Energy shares are up before the bell, even though oil prices are slipping as equities markets worldwide remain sluggish. A senior executive at ConocoPhillips ( COP ) told Reuters that the company is interested in bolstering its upstream operations in Malaysia. FuelCell Energy ( FCEL ) reported its loss narrowing in the second quarter, with net loss reaching $16.7 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with $19.9 million loss, or 29 cents a share, a year ago. SunPower ( SPWRA ) will build a 9.1-megawatt solar power plant in Spain for the Naturener Group from this month. BP ( BP ) continues to face the wrath of President Obama, who said he would have sacked its CEO Tony Hayward by now if he were Hayward's boss.
