Energy shares are lower as crude oil futures finished at their
lowest level in a year - below $76 a barrel.
Light, sweet crude oil for November delivery finished down 2.5%
to $75.67 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was down
1.01% to $2.72 a gallon while natural gas was down 0.11% to $3.61
per million British thermal units.
In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund (
) is down 1.55% to $29.28. The United States Natural Gas ETF (
) is up 0.56% to $8.92.
In late-session energy news, shares of Forest Oil Corp. (
) are higher as the company is reportedly upgraded to Buy from Hold
The firm cited valuation and removed overhang following the
spin-off of its Canadian business.
Forest Oil shares are up 2.36%, or $0.21, to $9.10.
Meanwhile, shares of NRG Energy (
) are firmly lower after the company said late Monday it now
expected full-year earnings of between $1.78 billion to $1.85
billion, down from forecasts for between $1.9 billion and $2.0
NRG Energy shares are down 5.22%, or $1.04, to $18.89.
