Sector Update: Energy Shares Lower at Session's Half; Crude Futures Slip Below $101

Energy shares are mostly lower in mid-day trading while crude oil futures traded down below $101 a barrel.

Light, sweet crude oil for January delivery traded down 0.63% to $100.64 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil was down 0.8% to $2.99 a gallon while natural gas was down 1.49% to $3.43 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is down 0.51% to $38.80. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 1.43% to $7.57.

In mid-day energy news, shares of Cenovus Energy ( CVE ) are down while the Canadian oil firm refiner is expecting oil production to grow 21% next year, according to a Reuters report. The refiner will spend 23% more to support that growth, the report said.

CVE shares are down 0.37%, or $0.12, to $32.68.
