Sector Update: Energy Shares Higher at Mid-day; Crude Falls to Just Over $90 a Barrel

Energy shares are higher in mid-day trading, although Crude for July delivery dropped 0.4% to $90.54 a barrel at 11.50 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

In energy news, shares of Samson Oil and Gas ( SSN ) are moving 3.5% higher after the company issued an operational update on the company's drilling activities.

In the update, Samson reported that the Spirit of America #2 well has set an intermediate seven-inch casing at a depth of 9,130 ft., which completed a "significant milestone" in securing the Permian salt section behind pipe, and a "significant" amount of free oil was recovered from samples within this interval.
