Sector Update: Energy Shares Down Pre-Market; Crude Rises Toward $104 Per Barrel

Energy shares are lower in pre-market trade. Light, sweet crude oil for September delivery is up $0.52 to $103.92 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is up $0.01 to $2.87 a gallon while natural gas is up $0.56 at $103.96 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs , the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is up 0.22% at $36.92. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 0.11% at $17.51.

In other energy news, Harvest Natural Resources ( HNR ) reports net loss of approximately $4.5 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, compared to net income of $6.2 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, for the same period last year. Analysts expected $0.03 per share in earnings for Q2. HNR shares are flat at $4.53.

Also, Triangle Petroleum ( TPLM ) is down 11% in early pre-market after it priced 15 million shares at $6.25 per share.
