Sector Update: Energy Shares Down as Crude Maintains Fractionally Positive Territory

Energy shares are down in mid-day trading while crude oil futures manage to keep fractionally positive just below $83 a barrel.

Light, sweet crude for November delivery is trading up 0.19% to $82.75 a barrel. In other energy futures, heating oil is down 0.11% to $2.85 a gallon while natural gas is down 2.81% to $3.49 per million British thermal units.

In energy ETFs, the United States Oil Fund ( USO ) is down 0.84% to $31.71. The United States Natural Gas ETF ( UNG ) is down 2.49% to $8.60.

In energy news, Lucas Energy ( LEI ) is just lower although the company says it does not know of any reason for the recent stock drop to a 52-week low of $1.04 on Thursday.

Lucas Energy shares are now down 6% to $1.40.
