Energy issues are broadly mixed before the bell Friday, even as oil prices climb as business sentiment improves, even in Europe. BP ( BP ) continues to struggle dealing with the oil spill which is now expected to be worse than the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska. Still, BP shares are up about 0.6% pre-market, having closed down 8.34% Thursday. Coal miner James River Coal ( JRCC ) reported first quarter earnings that beat expectations on higher coal prices.
