) has announced that University of Michigan's solar car known as
Quantum featured an Avery Dennison vehicle wrap film in the 2014
American Solar Car Challenge.
The American Solar Challenge (ASC) is a competition to design,
build and drive solar-powered cars. The teams compete over a
1200-1800 mile cross-country road race across North America. The
event is held every other year during the summer and is open to
solar car teams from countries all over the world.
The University of Michigan solar car team is an entirely
student-run organization that designs and builds solar electric
vehicles and competes both nationally and internationally. Since
its establishment, the team has built 12 vehicles.
Quantum, the team's eleventh custom-designed solar car is a
three-wheeler vehicle. The car weighs in at just around 320 pounds
that can reach top speeds of 105 mph. The University of Michigan
has won the ASC seven times before and placed third in the World
Solar Challenge five times. The team won its third ASC in 2012 with
