) recently received a plum contract worth approximately $1.8
billion from NASA. The contract entails SAIC to provide a
plethora of scientific, health, engineering, operational, and
technical support services to Johnson Space Center Human Health
and Performance (HH&P) directorate and the Human Exploration
and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD) Human Research Program
(HRP) of NASA.

The single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ)
contract has a 10-year window for delivering the service. This
includes a 5-year base period, one 3-year option, and one 2-year
option. The technical services will be primarily offered at the
Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas and the White Sands Test
Facility near Las Cruces, N.M.
The Johnson Space Center is the epicenter of the various space
missions of NASA and serves as a hub for astronaut corps. The
HH&P division of the space center diligently focuses on the
optimum utilization of human health for improved productivity of
space exploration activities.
To fulfill this endeavor, SAIC will offer its technological
expertise to support fundamental and applied biomedical and space
cell biology research and development and effective use of the
HH&P directorate laboratories. At the same time, SAIC will
facilitate the development and application of space environmental
factors, human factors, human system integration and biomedical
engineering; design, development, test, evaluation, and operation
of biomedical flight hardware; and integration of payloads,
experiments, and hardware with the International Space Station.
SAIC will also offer critical support in the areas of flight
medicine, human test support and occupational health to NASA
during the tenure of the contract.
Since its inception in 1969, SAIC has utilized its vast domain
knowledge to solve critical problems of the country in areas such
as national security, energy and the environment, critical
infrastructure, and health.
