Penske Automotive Q2 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews.com) - Penske Automotive Group, Inc. ( PAG ), an international transportation services company, Wednesday reported second-quarter net income attributable to shareholders of $72.9 million, up from $62.0 million in the previous year.

Income per share totaled $0.81, compared to $0.69 per share last year. Income from continuing operations increased to $0.89 per share from $0.70 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

On average, 11 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.85 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenue climbed 21.4% to $4.41 billion from $3.63 billion in the prior year. Analysts estimated revenues of $4.23 billion for the quarter.

The company said its revenue increase was driven by a 10.4% increase in total retail unit sales, including a 5.3% increase on a same-store basis.
