Patterson-UTI Operates 215 Rigs Under Drilling Contract for August 2012

Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. ( PTEN ) reported that for the month of August 2012, it had an average of 215 drilling rigs operating, including 210 rigs in the United States and 5 rigs in Canada. For the two months ended August 31, 2012, it had an average of 219 drilling rigs operating, including 214 rigs in the United States and 5 rigs in Canada.

Average drilling rigs operating reported in the company's monthly announcements represent the average number of the company's drilling rigs that were operating under a drilling contract.

PTEN is unchanged at $15.73 in the after-hours market.
