Neptune Tech Gets Krill Oil Patent; Shares Add 4%

Neptune Technologies & Bioressources Inc. ( NEPT ) announced that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office has allowed a second continuation patent application, application number 13/545,830, which claims the benefit of prior Neptune U.S. Patents No. 8,030,348and 8,278,351.

This second continuation application contains only a single claim, which is directed to a capsule comprising an Antarctic krill oil extract comprising a phospholipid suitable for human consumption.

This claim covers most, if not all, krill oil products presently sold in the U.S. market.

NEPT shares are up 3.9% to $2.67, in a day's range of $2.55 - $2.68, and a 52-week spread of $1.62 - $5.14.
