Bullish consumer sentiment from the United States helped reverse
the direction of European shares in trading today. U.S. consumer
confidence readings came in better than anticipated by the analyst
community, the latest in a string of such events from the world's
biggest economy. Yesterday strong home sales news from the United
States rallied the markets. Three of the four major European
bourses were higher with the FTSE 100 Index at 5,916.66, gaining
1.11 at 0.02%. The CAC 40 Index is at 3,445.16, higher by 3.71 and
0.11%. The German
DAX Index is at 6,861.64, rising 12.04 and 0.18%.
With the Greek bailout package overwhelmingly approved by the
German legislature after European markets closed yesterday,
financial ADRs are doing well today. Deustsche Bank (

) is up 0.64% to $47.00 Credit Suisse (
CS
) is at $27.52, higher by 0.15%. ING Groep (
ING
) has jumped 1.76% to $9.08. Banco Santandre (
STD
) has climbed to $8.43, a gain of 0.46%.
