Monsanto and Dow Agrosciences Agree to Cross-License Genetically Modified Traits for Corn Seed; MON Near Yr Highs

Monsanto ( MON ) shares are up 1.1% at $106.83 but off a day high $107.17 - compared to a year high $107.24 - after the company inked a deal with Dow Chemical's ( DOW ) agricultural subsidiary to cross-license new genetically modified traits for corn seed. DOW shares are up 0.03% at $31.84, but below a day high $32.12.

Traits included in the agreement are DOW Agrosciences' technology which makes the crop survive application of herbicide 2,4-D, and MON's Technology that protects the corn crop from rootworm damage.
