MidEast Shares Mixed, Kuwait Gains on Expectations for Larger MSCI Frontier Market Index Weighting

Middle East stocks were mixed, with Kuwait gaining on expectations it would soon have a larger weighting on MSCI's frontier market index when the United Arab Emirates and Qatar are upgraded to the emerging markets in May.

Meanwhile, Egypt rose, boosted by buying in large cap stocks, Reuters reports.

Kuwait's main index gained 1.1% to 7,536 points, Egypt advanced 1.1% to 8,287 points, Dubai firmed 0.5% to 4,256 points, Abu Dhabi eased 0.2% to 4,836 points, Qatar slipped 0.3% to 11,388 points, Saudi Arabia dipped 0.1% to 9,319 points, Oman lost 0.3% to 7,000 points and Bahrain shed 0.2% to 1,372 points.
