) on Friday posted first quarter adjusted profits that exceeded
expectations, although its revenue total lagged Wall Street's
The Whitehouse Station, NJ-based company reported first quarter
net income of $1.74 billion, or 56 cents per share, compared with
$1.04 billion, or 34 cents per share, in the year-ago period.
Excluding one-time items, adjusted profit was 99 cents per

On average, Wall Street analysts expected a slightly smaller
profit of 98 cents per share, albeit on higher revenue of $11.82
