Marriott Debuts in Philadelphia Navy Yard - Analyst Blog

Leading hotelier Marriott International, Inc. ( MAR ) is consistently trying to expand its global presence. Since 2009, the company's hotel system size has increased 12%.Marriott has a substantial development pipeline and is poised to benefit from the increase in demand for hotels, going forward.

At the end of third-quarter 2013, Marriott International managed or franchised 3,883 lodging properties worldwide, with 670,507 rooms. Additionally, 144,000 rooms were in the development pipeline.

Courtyard by Marriott, one of the world class luxury brands of Marriott, recently announced the opening of a property - Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard - in Philadelphia, PA. The opening not only enhances the extensive luxury hotels portfolio but also marks Marriott's entry into Philadelphia.

Strategically positioned in Philadelphia Navy Yard at 1001 Intrepid Avenue, the 172-rooms hotel is a 5-storey luxurious property. Courtyard Philadelphia South is in proximity to Philadelphia Sports Complex, Philadelphia International Airport, Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia Zoo and City Hall. The hotel features world-class amenities like spa, fitness center, restaurants and pool bar, especially for business travelers. We believe the hotel's strategic location will boost both leisure and business travel in the area.

Courtyard by Marriott consists of distinctive properties and resort locations across the world. Currently, the hotelier operates 977 hotels under the brand, which mainly caters to business travelers, in more than 20 countries.
