We saw the markets hold up fairly steady today as we heard from the Federal Reserve and their decision to make no change in interest rates once again.

Going back to last year, the markets have reacted fairly positive to the commentary that is disseminated form the Federal Reserve meetings. You tend to see lots of volatility in the moments after the announcement, but about an hour before the close, we tend to get a pattern develop for how the day will end.

As we look at today's action, we witnessed a positive earnings reaction to companies like Dow Chemical ( DOW ) and Jones Lang LaSalle ( JLL ) . It wasn't as good for shares of Ethan Allen ( ETH ) and P.F. Chang's ( PFCB ) which just initiated a dividend and has been added to our dividend stock database of nearly 1600 names.

Financial stocks are helping keep the markets seeing green so far, with Goldman Sachs ( GS ) , SunTrust Banks ( STI ) and M&T Bank ( MTB ) leading the way higher. Gold-mining shares are also kicking up, following a decent earnings report from Barrick Gold ( ABX ) , also helping lift competitors like Newmont Mining ( NEM ) and Agnico-Eagle Mines ( AEM ) . After the bell today, we'll be looking for earnings from companies such as Visa ( V ) and Allstate ( ALL ) . Volume pulled off the levels we saw yesterday, as we saw 6.3 Billion shares traded on the NYSE and 2.63 Billion shares traded on the NASDAQ.

We'll be continuing to look over our current list of recommendations for any possible further changes we may be needing to make, but we will keep subscribers alerted to any possible changes we make.
