Market Chatter: Teck Resources in Hunt for Quebrada Blanca Partner; Shares Dip 3.3%

By Midnight Trader July 23, 2012, 02:17:10 PM EDT

Canadian mining company Teck Resources ( TCK ) is looking for a new partner for its Quebrada Blanca copper mine as the Hurtado Vicuna family is selling its stake in the mine, La Tercera newspaper reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The mine, in which state mining company Empresa Nacional de Mineria also holds a stake, is planning a $5.6 billion expansion to increase production.

Teck, however, recently announced it was delaying the expansion project's environmental approval process as it reviews comments regulators made during the application.

TCK shares are down 3.6% to $29.19 but above a day low $28.63.
