By MT Newswires January 11, 2013, 08:45:03 AM EDT

"Comex gold futures prices are moderately lower in early U.S. trading Friday," Kitco News reported. It said: "The gold and silver markets are seeing some chart consolidation following Thursday's solid price gains. The key outside markets are also in a bearish posture for the precious metals Friday morning, as the U.S. dollar index is firmer and crude oil prices are weaker."

Kitco said February gold traded down $10.70 an ounce at $1,667.70. Spot gold was quoted down $6.90 at $1,668.50. March Comex silver traded down $0.278 at $30.64 an ounce.
