Market Chatter: Dean Foods Company Pops 4% Amid Reports Morning Star Dairy Division on the Market

Dean Foods Company ( DF ) is up 4.0% at $16.00 but off a day high $16.15 amid market reports that it is seeking a buyer for its Morningstar dairy division, valued at about $1 billion.

Investment bank Evercore Partners Inc. is skimming the markets for potential buyers and is getting some interest mostly from private equity firms, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Morningstar is the smallest of DF's three segments.

DF trades in a 52-week range of $8.04 - $17.50. Shares have increased 78% in the last 12 months.
