By Midnight Trader August 17, 2012, 01:13:52 PM EDT

Latin American markets are mostly mixed today, lacking any real inspiration with declines in gold prices and little change for crude oil. Like in the rest of the world, investors in this region too are waiting on central banks to move in stimulating respective economies, and the global economy as a whole.

Here's where the regional markets stand this afternoon:

- Ibovespa down 351.57 (-0.6%) to 59,094.22

- IPC (Mexico City) UP 4.5 (+0.01%) to 40,720.02

- Santiago Index IPSA up 40.95 (+1%) to 4,255.57

- Merval Buenos Aires down 25.37 (-1%) to 2,457.62

In company news, grains trader Bunge Ltd ( BG ) would consider increasing its imports of corn into the United States from Brazil if damage from the U.S. drought worsens, the company's vice president of agribusiness and logistics said yesterday.

Brazil just finished harvesting a record crop this year of 72.78 million tons of corn. According to a Reuters report, BG's shipments were delivered to buyers in the U.S. Gulf region, Murilo Braz Sant'anna said in remarks during an event at the Ibovespa exchange in Sao Paulo, but did not provide additional details about the deals.

BG shares are down about 065% in afternoon trading.
