Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

MGIC Investment (MTG): More than 42,000 March 4.50 calls traded, but volume was below open interest. They appear to have been sold, which suggests an investor unloaded an existing bullish position. MTG rose 4.26 percent to $4.65.

Bank of America (BAC): Some 26,000 May 7 puts were bought for $0.45 to $0.50 as investors positioned for downside in the stock. BAC rose 2.19 percent to $7.95.

Southwestern Energy (SWN): Large blocks of traded in the March 34 calls and the March 36 calls, but volume was below open interest in both. SWN rose 1.59 percent to $35.08.

Hewlett-Packard (HPQ): More than 9,000 February 29 puts were bought for $0.67 as investors positioned for downside in the shares. HPQ rose 1.49 percent to $29.55.

Yahoo (YHOO): A block of 20,000 July 16 calls were bought for $1.10, 20 at the same time that 20,000 July 14 puts were sold for $0.87. An equal number of April 16 calls were also sold for $0.53, which indicates that a previously established long position was rolled forward by three months. YHOO fell 0.13 percent to $15.10.
