Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Sprint Nextel (S): Investors sold 20,000 each in the December 2.50 puts and the December 3.50 calls, looking for the stock to move sideways. S declined 2.09 percent to $2.81.

PulteGroup (PHM): Investors bought 12,000 December 6 calls for $0.35, looking for upside. PHM rose 2.55 percent to $5.62.

Ivanhoe Mines (IVN): An investor bought 3,000 March 25 calls for $3.40 and sold an equal number of March 30 calls for $1.80, looking for upside. IVN fell 5 percent to $21.26.

Gap (GPS): About 10,000 January 19 puts were bought for $0.99 to $1.07 as an investor looked for volatility to increase. GPS rose 1.32 percent to $19.91.

Ariad Pharmaceuticals (ARIA): More than 15,000 January 5 puts were bought for $0.05 to $0.15, but volume was below open interest. ARIA fell 10 percent to $10.75.
