Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Bank of America (BAC): More than 60,000 January 7.50 calls were bought, mostly or $1.75 to $1.80, but volume was below open interest in the strike. BAC rose 2.17 percent to $8.02.

Weatherford International (WFT): About 37,000 March 18 calls were bought for $0.84 to $1.01. An equal number of February 17 calls were sold at the same time for $0.78 to $0.90 against previous open interest. That suggests an existing long position was rolled from one contract to the other. WFT fell 1.35 percent to $17.55.

Halliburton (HAL): A long position in more than 5,000 February 37 calls was rolled to the March 38 contract for a net cost of about $0.30 as investors look for upside. HAL fell 0.68 percent to $36.75

E*Trade Financial (ETFC): A block of 10,000 January 10 calls was purchased for $2.10 against open interest of just 931 contracts. The trade reflects a long-term bullish sentiment toward the stock. ETFC rose 0.54 percent to $9.15.
