Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Eli Lilly (LLY): An investor purchased 10,000 January 55 calls for $0.85, looking for the drug maker to rally into the New Year. LLY fell 0.83 percent to $52.42. (See related story )

MGIC Investment (MTG): Investors purchased some 10,000 January 2.50 calls for $0.38 and sold a matching number of January 3 calls for $0.21, looking for upside in the share price. The spread cost $0.17 and will earn 194 percent if the stock closes at or above $3 on expiration. MTG is unchanged at $2.02. (See related story )

Intel (INTC): Investors purchased about 7,700 December 21 puts for $0.62 and $0.63 but volume was far below open interest at the strike. INTC rose 0.45 percent to $21.36.

Microsoft (MSFT): Investors purchased almost 8,000 November 27 puts for $0.19 to $0.30, positioning for the tech giant to head lower. MSFT rose 2.06 percent to $28.05.
