Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Amarin (AMRN): Some 5,000 January 2015 10 calls were bought for $1.98. A large number of shares were sold at the same time, indicating that the investor is using a delta-neutral strategy to bet on higher volatility rather than a higher share price. AMRN fell 4.87 percent to $6.45.

Ford Motor (F): Almost 13,000 weekly 15.50 calls expiring this Friday were bought, mostly for $0.08 to $0.12, as investors position for a short-term rally in the automaker. F rose 3.25 percent to $15.27.

Dish Network (DISH): Some 5,000 September 37 puts were bought for $2.15 and an equal number of September 45 calls were sold for $1.20. Known as a collar, the trade cost $0.95 and will protect a long position in the media company against a push to the downside. DISH rose 0.69 percent to $39.60.
