Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

Skyworks Solutions (SWKS): An investor bought 8,500 January 30 calls for $3.20 and sold 5,000 January 25 calls for $5.50. They stand to make unlimited profits on a big move above $30. SWKS fell 1.54 percent to $26.90.

Medtronic (MDT): Some 7,000 contracts traded each in the August 40 calls and the July 38 calls. Volume was below open interest in both, suggesting a bullish position was closed. MDT was unchanged at $38.73.

Research In Motion (RIMM): An investor sold 10,000 March 11 calls for $0.61 against open interest and bought 6,000 March 9 calls for $1.08. He or she apparently rolled a bullish position to the lower strike, hoping for a rebound or hedging a short position in the stock. RIMM fell 2.84 percent to $7.18. (See related story )

Qualcomm (QCOM): Some 10,000 August 50 puts were bought for $0.77 as investors position for downside in the mobile-communications stock. QCOM fell 0.63 percent to $55.33.

Mosaic (MOS): Some 10,000 July 47.50 puts traded for $0.27 to $0.30, but volume was far below open interest in the strike. MOS rose 0.09 percent to $54.81.
