Kroger Recalls Spinach Product in 15 States Due to Listeria; Shares Unaffected, Rise 1.5%

The Kroger Co. ( KR ) is asking customers in 15 states to check their refrigerators for spinach packages supplied by NewStar Fresh Foods LLC, which is being recalled because the product may contain Listeria monocytogenes.

The product is Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach 10 oz. packages (UPC: 0001111091649) with a "best if used by" date of September 16. Customers should return the items to stores for a full refund or a replacement.

KR shares are up 1.57% to $24, leaving them shy of year high $24.83.
