KKR & Co. and other Companies in Investor Group Acquires Samson Investment for $7.2 Bln

KKR & Co. L.P. ( KKR ) today announced, as part of an investor group that consists of Natural Gas Partnersm, Crestview Partners, and Itochu Corporation, that it has acquired Samson Investment, a private exploration and production companies in the United States, for $7.2 billion.

Under the definitive agreement signed, the investor group will acquire all of Samson Investment's assets with the exception of its onshore Gulf Coast and offshore deep water Gulf of Mexico assets, which will continue to be owned by the Schusterman family. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter 2011.

KKR shares are down 2.37% to $11.52.
