MILAN, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Italian broadband company Open Fiber is expected to appoint Elisabetta Ripa as its new chief executive on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter said.

Ripa, who is a board member of Open Fiber, will replace the group's current CEO Tommaso Pompei.

"Open Fiber is expected to call a board meeting tomorrow on the issue," the source said.

Open Fiber, owned by state-controlled utility Enel and state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, is rolling out an ultrafast broadband network to compete with Telecom Italia.
