Improvements to the 10-Year Financial Page: GuruFocus

By GuruFocus June 26, 2012, 12:10:58 PM EDT

Over the past month we have made significant improvements to the 10-Year Financial Page. The improvements are mainly in two areas. The first is a link to the definition of each item. The other is numerous new items added to the page. These items are in the area of Valuation Ratios, absolute valuation and quality measures such as the Altman Z-Score, Piotroski F-score and Beneish M-Score.

We will use a few examples to explain the new items.

In the "Ratios" area, we have added these ratios:

 Days Sales Outstanding
 Days Inventory
 Inventory Turnover
 Debt to Revenue
 COGS to Revenue
 Inventory to Revenue
 Asset Turnover
 Buyback Ratio
 Tax Rate

If you click on each of these items you will be linked to the definition and detailed explanation of them. As with other items, by clicking on a row you will see the historical chart for that item. For instance, this is the historical COGS to Revenue ratio of ExxonMobil ( XOM ) and Apple ( AAPL ):

We can clearly see that the COGS to Revenue ratio of XOM has been increasing while Apple's COGS to Revenue ratio has been declining. Therefore the gross margin of XOM decreased while Apple's profit grew faster than its revenue.

Valuation Ratios

We have also added a section of Valuation Ratios in the new 10-Year Financial page. These ratios are linked to daily charts.

 PE Ratio (ttm)
 Price to Tangible Book
 Price-to-Free-Cash-Flow ratio
 PS Ratio
 EV-to-Revenue
 EV-to-EBITDA
 EV-to-EBIT
 Earnings Yield (Joel Greenblatt)
 Forward Rate of Return
 Shiller PE Ratio

For instance, this is the Earnings Yield (Joel Greenblatt) chart for Apple:

This is the Forward Rate of Return of Walmart ( WMT ) under Don Yacktman's definition:

Valuation and Quality

We have also added a section of Valuation and Quality at the last section of the financial page. This section includes the historical valuations and charts of these items:

 Market Cap
 Enterprise Value
 Net Cash (per share)
Net Current Asset Value (per share)
 Intrinsic Value (DCF Projected)
 Median PS (per share)
 Peter Lynch Fair Value
 Graham Number
 Altman Z-Score
 Piotroski F-Score
 Beneish M-Score

For instance, this is the historical Graham Number of Walmart:
