High Yield Stocks With Rising Call Volume

Compiled by Luis Gonzalez: All of the stocks mentioned below have seen a recent decrease in the Put/Call ratio, which is based on open interest of option contracts. Additionally, all these names are yielding over 5%, which should make them fairly attractive for investors looking to give an extra boost to their portfolio.

Some technical traders view the Put/Call ratio as a contrary indicator when it reaches extreme highs or lows. In other words, because the stocks mentioned below have a high number of open call option positions relative to put option positions, contrarians would think most of the stocks mentioned below are set for a correction. 2. Cedar Fair LP (FUN): General Entertainment Industry. Market cap of $1.01B. Dividend yield at 5.49%. Current Put/Call ratio at 0.17 vs. previous Put/Call ratio at 0.48 (64.58% change). Short float at 0.29%, which implies a short ratio of 1.1 days. The stock has gained 53.5% over the last year.
 
3. Linn Energy, LLC (LINE): Independent Oil & Gas Industry. Market cap of $5.89B. Dividend yield at 6.61%. Current Put/Call ratio at 0.68 vs. previous Put/Call ratio at 1.83 (62.84% change). Short float at 1.17%, which implies a short ratio of 1.8 days. The stock has gained 57.18% over the last year.
 
4. Altria Group Inc. (MO): Cigarettes Industry. Market cap of $49.44B. Dividend yield at 6.42%. Current Put/Call ratio at 0.99 vs. previous Put/Call ratio at 2.14 (53.74% change). Short float at 1.53%, which implies a short ratio of 2.69 days. The stock has gained 27.86% over the last year.
 
5. Starwood Property Trust, Inc. (STWD): REIT. Market cap of $1.07B. Dividend yield at 7.18%. Current Put/Call ratio at 0.12 vs. previous Put/Call ratio at 0.18 (33.33% change). Short float at 3.57%, which implies a short ratio of 2.3 days. The stock has gained 24.89% over the last year.
