Heavy earnings agenda all week

This week's calendar is light on economic data and heavy on earnings.

Major companies including Johnson & Johnson, Halliburton, Verizon, Delta Air Lines, and Forest Laboratories report results this morning. IBM, Advanced Micro Devices, Texas Instruments, and Xilinx follow this afternoon.

The only economic headlines today are Germany's Zew survey of economic sentiment early in the morning and the Bank of Japan's monetary announcement in the evening.

Weekly mortgage applications are released tomorrow. While recently unimportant, they could attract some attention this time because interest rates have been falling. Textron, United Technologies, General Dynamics, Coach, Abbott Laboratories, Norfolk Southern, and Freeport-McMoRan report in the morning. eBay, F5 Networks, Netflix, SanDisk, Stryker, and Western Digital report after the closing bell.

Thursday brings initial jobless claims, the FHFA's house-price index, and existing-home sales, along with natural-gas and crude-oil inventories. McDonald's, Southwest Airlines, Union Pacific, Johnson Controls, and Lockheed Martin announce results in the pre-market. Microsoft, Juniper Networks, Starbucks, Discover Financial, and Altera follow in the afternoon.

Friday has no economic data but does feature earnings from Honeywell, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Procter & Gamble, and Xerox.
